About Us

Our mission reflects that of our partner, the Schuster Foundation. Ride at Mooreland exists to enrich the lives of children from Baltimore’s disadvantaged neighborhoods. We fulfill that mission by providing our riders with opportunities to learn and grow through horsemanship.

Located in Reisterstown, Md, Mooreland Farm is a five-minute drive from 795. It is a private 31-acre boarding and training establishment with exquisite facilities. Our Ride at Mooreland horsemanship program is made possible through a partnership with the Schuster Foundation. We are also blessed to have knowledgeable volunteers who can provide one-to-one supports when appropriate. A safe and happy environment is our priority.

Meg Carter

Program Coordinator

Meg Carter caught the horse bug at age nine and never recovered. She has spent the last 13 years as a professional advocate for people with special needs. Her work with Ride at Mooreland combines her love of horses with a passion for service.

Edwin Segovia

Instructor

Edwin hails from south Texas where he started riding at age six and began breaking American Quarter Horses by age 12. He believes in the therapeutic nature of the horse-human relationship and has a strong interest in the natural horsemanship movement. He made the transition from Western to English riding when he moved to Maryland in 2022 to manage Mooreland Farm and to train young racehorses. Although he will always be a Westerner at heart, he is exhilarated by fox hunting and jumping.

Program Goals

We teach basic horsemanship while encouraging children to ride with joy and purpose. We believe that learning to ride and care for horses develops confidence, compassion, responsibility and a sense of community. We aim to create memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
